Our method
How we check every fact
A price is only useful if you know where it came from and when. So every figure here shows its source, the document, and the day we read it.
Checked against each source on 4 October 2026
Where facts come from
- Hotel prices and capacities: only the hotel’s own website, or a brochure the hotel publishes there. Not wedding marketplaces, blogs, forums, social posts or planners. Those can be useful leads, but nothing from them appears here as a fact.
- Legal steps: only the authority’s own pages: the National Registration Department (JPN), JAWI, JAKIM and the government portal. Where we quote Malay, we quote it exactly.
- Halal status: only JAKIM can tell you. We don’t state any hotel’s status.
- Wedding fairs: only the organiser’s own site or the venue’s own events page. Not ticketing sites or event listings. When the two disagree, or a source contradicts itself, the fair says so.
- Ang pow: only dated, published guides, quoted exactly, with the publisher and date. We never set a figure of our own.
- Photos: openly licensed photos from Wikimedia Commons, each credited with the photographer, the licence and the file page. A hotel card may show a photo of the hotel’s outside taken by someone other than the hotel. We don’t use a hotel’s own photos without its yes, or show its interiors; where we have no usable photo you see a plain “no photo yet” panel.
How a price is shown
- Exactly as printed: the amount, the unit (per table of 10, per person or per session) and the mark (“++”, “+” or “nett”).
- With the hotel’s own words about service charge and tax. We never turn a “++” price into a nett figure, because hotels don’t all charge tax the same way.
- With the minimum and the validity the document prints, or “none printed” when it prints none.
- With a note when the document contradicts itself, so you know what to ask.
What we won’t do
- Estimate a price a hotel doesn’t publish. “No price on its page” is a finding, and we say it.
- Combine or round figures from different sources into a new number.
- Rank hotels, or take payment to appear or rank higher. Every hotel is listed the same way.
What we checked, and when
On 4 October 2026 we read the wedding or events pages of 18 KL hotels, recorded 29 printed prices, and took 27 legal facts from official pages. 3 hotels’ sites refused our check; we show nothing for them until we can read their pages.
6 of the prices come from brochures whose text can’t be copied out of the file, so we read the price off the rendered page. Each of those shows the same source link, so you can check it yourself.
Found something out of date?
Hotels change their packages, and brochures stay online after they expire. Every price shows the document and the date we read it, so check the hotel’s current file before you sign anything. See the price list and the legal steps.
